Synopsis:
The right arm of a female and a bag are found in a park in Tokyo’s Taito ward. The bag is identified as belonging to Furukawa Mariko (Matsumoto Honoka), a company employee who has been missing since three months ago. While her grandfather Arima Yoshio (Hashizume Isao) and her mother Furukawa Machiko (Muroi Shigeru) are being interviewed by police officers, a TV station receives a phone call from a person who seems to be the murderer. “The arm is not Mariko’s. She’s buried elsewhere,” the person says. Freelance reporter Maehata Shigeko (Nakatani Miki) hears Mariko’s name in the news and is surprised. Mariko had been featured in a report on missing females which has suspended. Shigeko visits Itagaki Masako (Takahata Atsuko), the chief editor of the magazine ‘Sabrina’, and asks Masako to let her write a story on missing persons. Moved by Shigeko’s enthusiasm, Masako discloses important information. A 17-year-old youth Tsukada Shinichi (Hamada Tatsuomi), who was the first person to find the right arm, is the only member of his family that survived a robbery cum murder a year ago. Shigeko is assigned to serialise the story on condition that she writes from the angle of Tsukada being the discoverer of a new tragedy. Shinichi offers to become Shigeko’s assistant in order to face up to his family’s case. The murderer’s method seems to be to toy with the families of the victims and violate the dead. Shigeko’s anger starts to grow as a series of senseless murderers are discovered.
